One of the most frustrating things I see regularly is people failing to get the results they expect in the gym, and for one simple reason – they are not following an appropriate training plan.
Many people leave their results to chance or put their faith in the latest programme from a fitness magazine. Others make the mistake of following the same programme long after it has stopped delivering results. And I know from experience that there’s nothing more frustrating than training hard with little or nothing to show for it!
One of the many lessons I’ve learned in over 16 years in the fitness business is that you need to follow a training programme designed specifically for your unique requirements, or you have little chance of reaching your physique and performance goals.
However, there’s little merit in trying to create your own training programme. It’s a fact that the hardest person to coach is yourself! I know from experience that we tend to include all the exercises we enjoy and are good at, and leave out all the stuff we should really be working on. Even top trainers often hire someone to write their own programmes for this reason.
Here’s the simple truth:
Everyone should have a coach, and everyone should be following a progressive programme which has been designed around their specific needs and goals.

How does Online Coaching work?
Here’s what you get when you work with me:
- I will assess both your posture and movement quality, looking for issues that might hinder your progress;
- I will write an individualised programme based on your unique needs and goals, and update this regularly to ensure you continue to progress;
- I will provide guidance on technique based on short videos you send me, helping to improve your form on the exercises in the programme;
- If you also opt for nutrition coaching, I will coach you through my habit-based nutrition programme and ensure we tailor it to your specific goals. I have partnered with Precision Nutrition for this, and I think it’s safe to say there is not a better nutrition programme anywhere in the world.
Who Do I Coach?
I think it’s important for coaches to stay in their lane, and I believe the specific knowledge and experience I have built up over the last 16 years qualifies me well to work with two groups of people.
- I help busy people over the age of 30 get in the best shape of their lives.
- I help competitive and recreational athletes improve strength, power, speed and fitness in order to take their sports performance to the next level.

Step 1 – Fill Out An Application
The first step is to fill out an online training application. This gives me a little more information about you and what you want to get out of your training.

Step 2 – The Assessment
Once you have completed the application form I’ll reply within 48 hours to introduce myself properly and to find out more about you. I’ll ask for things like:
- Your goals
- Injury problems
- Exercise likes and dislikes
- How often you train
- Posture pictures
- Movement videos
Step 3 – The Consultation
Once I’ve reviewed your application and assessment forms we’ll arrange a 30-minute consultation via Skype or phone to discuss your goals and requirements in more detail.
During the consultation I’ll explain online training in more detail, answer any questions you have, and make sure I’m a good fit for you as a coach. It doesn’t do either of us any favours if we don’t work well together, and my job is to make sure that you find the best possible coach for your needs, whether that’s myself or someone else. I have a network of other coaches I can refer you to if we feel you are better suited to working with them.
Step 4 – The Start-Up Process
If we make the decision to work together, the final step will be getting you all set-up. This will include:
- Access to my training portal where all our communication takes place (this is much easier than trying to keep track of texts and emails);
- Access to my nutrition coaching software (if you choose online nutrition coaching as well as online training);
- Agreeing on a timescale for working together. I work with clients for as little as 3 months at a time, but I prefer 6-month and 12-month commitments as we can achieve far better results together.
To give you an idea of price, my services range from £139 per month (12-month commitment) to £199 per month (3-month commitment).
Remember, this is an investment in yourself. How would it feel to get back into those clothes hiding in the back of your wardrobe? Or having the confidence which being in great shape gives you? Or to play your sport knowing you’re fitter and stronger than you’ve ever been?
Compare that to the cost of continuing to train without seeing results.
WHAT HAPPENS ONCE WE’RE UP AND RUNNING?
Once we’ve made a start, we simply check in every week to review form, ensure you are making progress on the training programme, and answer any questions which come up during the week.
I think a weekly check-in process works best. Once a week you will send me a brief report on how your training has gone, along with short videos of exercise technique you want me to review, and any questions you have.
Every four weeks or so I will provide you with an updated programme which builds on the previous block and takes account of any changes in your goals. Regular updates also ensure training never gets stale and keeps motivation high.
